February 18, 2026

Barrie, ON – Cornerstone Hydro Electric Concepts (CHEC) is pleased to announce Sioux Lookout Hydro as the newest member of the association, bringing the total number of participating members to seventeen. As a collaborative association of local distribution companies (LDCs) in Ontario, CHEC provides support and resources to allow our members to operate efficiently and effectively while remaining strong, engaged members of their communities.

Sioux Lookout Hydro is located in Northwestern Ontario, serving approximately 2,900 customers in the municipality of Sioux Lookout, with seven full time staff.

“We’re excited to be part of an organization with such an experienced and knowledgeable membership,” said Anthony Zerecki, Interim CEO of Sioux Lookout Hydro. “It will help us continue to provide safe and reliable service, strengthen communication with our customers, and support the community’s growth and long-term needs.”

Many of the CHEC LDCs are among the highest efficiency rankings in the province and with a history of delivering exceptional customer service. Being part of a collaborative organization contributes to that success, as it provides support across all areas of the utility and allows them to streamline their operations and benefit from the shared resources.

“CHEC celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary last year,” said CHEC President, Bruno Pereira. “Which shows a proven ability to adapt and thrive within a continually changing industry. We’re excited to have the experience and perspective of Sioux Lookout Hydro as part of our membership.”

CHEC was first founded in 2000 in response to de-regulation. The support the Association provides has evolved over the twenty-five years with the organization currently providing support across all areas including Billing and Customer Information Systems (CIS), Communications and Customer Service, Finance & Regulatory, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Human Resources & Labour Relations, and Operations and Health & Safety.
