CHEC launches LDC101, a series of educational videos for those new to the electrical distribution industry.

October 21, 2024, Barrie, ON – Cornerstone Hydro Electric Concepts is pleased to announce the launch of LDC101, a series of educational videos that cover the full breadth of LDC operations. They are designed for those who are either new to the Ontario electrical industry or who are looking for a refresher on some of the industry’s finer details.

“This was a need that was identified by our members,” said Bruno Pereira, CHEC President. “We’re pleased to be able to provide this series of videos that will help orient new staff more quickly and help anyone better understand a complex industry.”

CHEC provides support across seven portfolios: Finance & Regulatory, Billing and Customer Information Systems (CIS), Operations, Health & Safety, Human Resources and Labour Relations, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Communications and Customer Engagement. The videos are delivered by the Specialists who lead each of the respective portfolios.

“We’re looking forward to having access to these resources,” said Tim Curtis, Chair of the CHEC Board. “There is a wealth of experience and knowledge within the Association and providing this support is another example of their ability to identify and meet the needs of the membership.”

Sample topics for the initial videos include The History of Ontario’s Electricity Sector and General Concepts of Economic Regulation, Basics of Electricity, Regulatory Accounting for Non-accountants, and Privacy and Confidentiality. Additional videos will be added over time as new topics and educational needs are identified.

LDC101 is available for CHEC members only and is available on the Member Portal.
