July 19, 2019

Support services and shared resources continue to draw new members as the industry evolves

July 19, 2019 Barrie, ON – CHEC is pleased to announce that ERTH Power Corporation is the newest member of the Association, with CHEC members now serving over 230,000 customers across Ontario.

“CHEC is made up of like-minded community focused utilities and that’s where our roots are,” said Graig Pettit, Vice President and General Manager of ERTH Power Corp. “The resources they provide are flexible and extensive which will allow us to adjust them to suit our specific needs.”

ERTH services 15 communities across four counties, with approximately 25,000 customers. Earlier this year, ERTH Power merged with Goderich Hydro who had previously been a member of the CHEC organization.

“We’re interested in finding out the full extent of the CHEC services and how we can work together to advance our goals,” said Pettit. “We were a member of CHEC years ago and we’re excited to see how CHEC has evolved to meet the needs of its members as the industry has changed.”

CHEC provides support in the areas of Finance & Regulatory, Operations, Health & Safety, Energy Management, Human Resources, Communications and Customer Engagement, and Cybersecurity.

“The electrical distribution industry has undergone significant changes and the role of the local utility continues to evolve,” said CHEC President, John Sherin. “The resources we provide have developed to match those changes and have become increasingly valuable for our members. We support them across all aspects of their business so that they continue to be efficient, innovative providers of electricity as they embrace the energy future.”
