Partnership brings paperless, robust Health and Safety program to CHEC members

March 2, 2022 Barrie, ON – Cornerstone Hydro Electric Concepts (CHEC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Univerus Health and Safety Inc. (formerly Compliance Science) for the shared use of the Health and Safety software program. As a centralized resource, CHEC members will have access to the Health and Safety management and reporting software through an affordable, new pricing model.

“We are looking forward to this opportunity to provide resources to our members to build paperless, robust Health and Safety programs,” said Rob Bergeron, CHEC Health & Safety Specialist. “This is the logical next step to delivering progressive Health and Safety through the technology that is available.”

The Management Software covers the whole breadth of Health and Safety activities within a Local Distribution Company including Training Trackers, Incident Reporting, Inspections, Corrective Actions, Risk Assessments, Equipment, Safety Meetings, Job Plans and Work Observations among others. It provides a single access point for Health and Safety activities and manages all leading and lagging indicators such as inspections, safety meetings, and incident reporting. It is configurable to specific standards including ISO 45001 or CSA Z1000.

“We’re excited to be working with the CHEC Association,” said Jason Woodrow, Executive VP at Univerus. “It is the perfect application for organizations that don’t necessarily have resources in-house for a full-time Health and Safety rep. Between Rob’s knowledge and expertise, and the Management software, CHEC members will have access to world class Health and Safety.”

The program features Mobile applications that are ideal for use during incident reporting, site inspections, workplace observation, and remote crews.

“Notifications can be critical when line crews are working on and off site,” said Bergeron. “The mobile app is one of the strengths of this program that our members will benefit from immediately.”

The Management software fits well with the Association’s collaborative model as it provides CHEC staff with an overview of the Health & Safety activities within their member group.

“It will provide a comfort level of knowing when our members are doing okay, or when there are gaps where they are in need of support,” said Bergeron. “In terms of optimizing the services to our members, this will be an effective tool in identifying their areas of need and how we can best serve them.”
