CHEC Fall Safety Session October 17 & 18

The date of this year’s CHEC Fall Safety Sessions is October 17 & 18. The theme of this year’s session is around Resilience in Safety.
Two of three speakers have been confirmed, both of which have been featured on Ted talks- you don’t want to miss this!
Brian Knowler graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law in 1997, and has been a police officer for 17 years. He speaks and writes extensively on topics around psychological health and trauma in the emergency response field, and has been consulted by media outlets across Canada. In March 2015, he published ‘On the Other Side of Broken – One Cop’s Battle With the Demons of PTSD.’ He is a member of the Police Advisory Group of Badge of Life Canada, an organization dedicated to furthering PTSD awareness and advocacy. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe is an award winning Psychology Instructor who uses narrative pedagogy to engage and inspire her students to achieve their personal best. Robyne’s interests focus on health and wellness for learning including topics such as resiliency, optimal challenge, and self-identity, in her own backyard and around the world. She has taught for a decade at the post-secondary level while continuing to work with elementary and secondary schools bringing best practices for professional development and student engagement. Robyne is committed to finding innovative solutions for creating positive learning relationships and environments for students and teachers. See her TED Talk.
